Crestfield Camp & Conference Center is now hiring for our 2019 summer camp season! We seek young adults with enthusiasm for their faith, others, and the great outdoors. Crestfield Camp & Conference Center is a year-round Christian camp and retreat center located in Slippery Rock, PA, about an hour north of Pittsburgh, PA.

Each summer we welcome young people from all over Western Pennsylvania and Northeast Ohio for residential (sleepaway) camp where we provide them a fun and safe place to challenge themselves, connect with others, and grow in their faith.

 

We are hiring young adults (18-25 year olds) for the following leadership roles:

Lifeguards

Arts & Crafts Leader

Environment/Outdoor Specialist

 

 

Leader Descriptions:

 

Program Coordinators (May 21 - August 10, 2019)

  • Help design and execute Summer Staff training
  • Co-lead Summer Staff Bible Study and summer camp Bible Studies
  • Facilitate the day-to-day activities of all camps
  • Be ultimately responsible for the proper setup and storage of camp resources including, but not limited to archery, field games, and outdoor camp equipment
  • Represent the Program Director’s vision and voice for camp when called upon
  • Be available to assist the Executive Director and Program Director when called upon
  • Fill in as required so that each camper’s experience is optimal
  • Adhere to the personal conduct policy and lead campers and Summer Staff by both word and example
  • Willing to share your personal faith in Jesus Christ 

 

Mission Possible Coordinator (May 21 – July 27, 2019)

Mission Possible is a mission-focused Summer Camp for church youth groups. The Mission Possible Coordinator will lead the process of identifying, scouting and scheduling work trips to mission sites and serve as the head counselor for Mission Possible attendees on- and off-site.

  • Must have a car and valid driver’s license
  • Possess a strong desire to for mission work and a willingness to share that passion with others
  • Plan and facilitate mission trips with over-site from the Program Director
  • Coordinate off-site meals for Mission Possible Campers with help from Programming Team and Kitchen staff
  • Communicate camper needs in a timely manner to Program Director, Executive Director and/ or Program Coordinators
  • Be available to assist the Executive Director and Program Director when called upon
  • Fill in as required so that each camper’s experience is optimal
  • Adhere to the personal conduct policy and lead campers and Summer Staff by both word and example
  • Willing to share your personal faith in Jesus Christ

 

Lifeguards (June 2 – August 10, 2019)

  • Certified lifeguard required
  • Assist Waterfront Coordinator with maintenance and general upkeep of pool, pool house, canoe dock, and related facilities and equipment
  • Lifeguard daily
  • Report directly to Waterfront Coordinator.Be available to assist the Executive Director and Program Director when called upon
  • Additional responsibilities will include serving as supplemental supervision for camper groups, rainy day activities, participation in Bible study, Vespers, meals, and evening programs.
  • Adhere to the personal conduct policy and lead campers and Summer Staff by both word and example
  • Willing to share your personal faith in Jesus Christ

 

Cabin Counselors (June 2 - July 27, 2019)

  • Will live with campers, help develop weekly schedule of activities and lead Christian Growth of camper groups.  During the course of the summer, counselors will work with both our Day and Residential programs, and with a variety of ages.
  • Communicate camper needs in a timely manner to Program Director, Executive Director and/ or Program Coordinators. 
  • Be available to assist the Executive Director and Program Director when called upon
  • Adhere to the personal conduct policy and lead campers and Summer Staff by both word and example
  • Willing to share your personal faith in Jesus Christ 

 

Photographer/Media Specialist (June 9 - July 27)

  • Shoot, edit, and upload digital photos for various facets of camp activity. Also, take pictures for use in website, publications, and related publicity purposes.
  • Record high quality digital photos (and occasionally video footage) of the various campers and activities of all camps in action each summer camp session.
  • Set up for, organize and lead groups for weekly group photo each Sunday night. 
  • Daily organize photos for storage as directed by Program Director/Coordinator
  • Projects as assigned by Program Director for summer and general camp activities, facilities, and guests for archival, publicity, and marketing purposes
  • Regularly assigned a week at a time to sleep in a cabin/shelter overnight as a helper to counselor (though not necessarily every week)
  • Take initiative to daily assist with program implementation, task accomplishment, and camper supervision; Counselor relief
  • Be self-directed and manage time well, present at meals, worship services, activities, attuned to the camp schedules and various activities and photo opportunities
  • Available to assist the Executive Director and Program Director when called upon
  • Adhere to the personal conduct policy and lead campers and Summer Staff by both word and example
  • Willing to share your personal faith in Jesus Christ

 

Arts & Crafts Leader (June 2 – July 27, 2019)

  • Plan, organize, and facilitate arts & crafts projects for all age groups
  • Inventory supplies at the end of each week in order to determine what will be required for the next session
  • Keep the art studio clean, with all appropriate items locked away at the end of the day
  • Responsible for having crafts, supplies, equipment set up and ready 10 minutes before the scheduled time of event
  • Additional responsibilities will include serving as supplemental supervision for camper groups, rainy day activities, participation in Bible study, Vespers, meals, and evening programs.
  • Be available to assist the Executive Director and Program Director when called upon
  • Adhere to the personal conduct policy and lead campers and Summer Staff by both word and example
  • Willing to share your personal faith in Jesus Christ

 

Environment/Outdoor Specialist (June 2 – July 27, 2019)

  • Develop and lead classes, outdoor experiences, programs and camps for all age groups
  • Knowledge of general forest ecology, local natural history, regional birds and mammals 
  • Responsible for having supplies and equipment set up and ready 10 minutes before the scheduled time of event
  • Additional responsibilities will include serving as supplemental supervision for camper groups, rainy day activities, participation in Bible study, Vespers, meals, and evening programs.
  • Be available to assist the Executive Director and Program Director when called upon
  • Adhere to the personal conduct policy and lead campers and Summer Staff by both word and example
  • Willing to share your personal faith in Jesus Christ

 

 

**All camp employees must complete all criminal background checks, anti-child abuse training and certifications as required by Pennsylvania (PA) state law and by the American Camp Association (ACA) accreditation standards.**
